 CAD Project Minimize

The NEMESIS participating counties Carlton, Cook, Lake, Koochiching, and St. Louis agreed to participate in a shared regional Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.

This CAD system will be compatible with the shared regional records management system and will provide the capacity to allow all of the five counties and their political subdivisions within the northeastern Minnesota “Arrowhead” region to input and access records to the same automated system.  At the present time two of the five participating counties are using different outdated vendor supplied software systems for their CAD function and three counties have no electronic CAD system.

A federal appropriation was sought and was approved through the 2005 Omnibus Appropriations bill.  Funding was provided to the Department of Justice to administer projects, and the COPS office was tasked to examine each of the proposals and provide grants if warranted. COPS then submitted a report to the Committees on Appropriations on its recommendation for each proposal.  The Sheriff’s Office submitted two proposals which both received approval, resulting in grant awards of $443,989.00 and $493,322.

Through a rigorous selection process Tiburon, Inc. was selected vendor to provide the regional CAD system.  Full implementation of this software in the region is scheduled for October of 2007.
